Peter Vary is an Apache Iceberg committer and an Apache Hive PMC member, he is a Staff Engineer at Apple. He focuses on data storage, sharing and querying. In previous roles he worked on optimizing Hive transactional performance which also lead to integrating Iceberg to Hive as a new table format. Most recently before joining Apple Peter led the Hungarian Hive Engineering team at Cloudera.
